feeling restless when having nothing to do

Today is one of those weird evenings where I feel like my time is being wasted and can't switch off that feeling.

I normally work ~6-days a week on my startup. Monday to Friday - Saturday is always my off day - and Sunday I normally go into the office half a day.

Today I have just not felt like working - so I also spent the day off. I woke up and started to read a new thriller, went out for a walk, spent time with my girlfriend and cooked something for us in the evening.

I love my work and I know that when I look at it from a distance, it is no problem to NOT work on the weekend. During the day this is normally fine for me.

But in the evening I often get that strange feeling, where I feel like I HAVE to start something productive because I didn't do anything that day.

Then I am unable to just sit down to read some more, continue a bit of coding on a game for fun, or just watch a movie.

I then just get have this feeling of inner tension. And as I did not know what to do else, I decided to write that down.

I think the weird thing is that I already know this. I know that I don't have to work seven days a week. I know that spending a day reading, going for a walk, cooking and spending time with people I love is not a wasted day. But somehow knowing that doesn't automatically switch off that restless feeling in the evening.

Maybe that's also something I have to learn. Not how to be more productive, but how to be okay with not being productive on the days off.

And even if I can't always switch off that restless feeling yet, collecting energy to start the new week is probably a pretty good use of a Sunday evening too.
